2 TIPS FOR LIVING THE CHRISTIAN FAITH FEARLESSLY

by Gladys Osofisan January 14, 2022
written by Gladys Osofisan

Welcome back, my friends!!! A quick question for you!

What does it mean to have a fearless faith?

I’ll go first! Fearless faith to me is throwing back what God has told me whether it be through prophecy or in prayer at what the enemy is trying to shake or break my faith. To throw it back at him, I have to remember and I keep a journal where I record my prayers and the testimonies when and as God answers. These are reference points for me and what keeps me fearless in faith. It’s not that fear or doubt don’t come, I just remember who has the final say!😃.

How do you live in faith fearlessly?

Happy watch!!!

Happy new year!  It’s 2022 and we made it despite Covid-19! Despite the Delta and Omicron variants.  I caught it towards the end of December and men, I would not wish it on my enemy!  So, thank God for life and thank God for the vaccines.  When you hear the words ‘Level up’, what does it mean to you?  In this video, I share what it means to level up from my perspective.  For me, the ultimate level up begins with an intentional pursuit of God.

What does it mean to intentionally pursue God?

In Psalm 63:1 (AMP), David stated, “O God, You are my God; with deepest longing, I will seek You; My soul [my life, my very self] thirsts for You, my flesh longs and sighs for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

He continues on in a similar vein, in verses 3 and 4, “Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. 4So will I bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.”

Pursuing God entails getting up every day with a desire to know Him. It’s to be overflowing with God’s love and presence yet still yearning for more. Finally, it is to devote your entire life to learning everything there is to know about him. This means an experiential knowledge of Him.

Happy viewing, and don’t forget to like, share with your friends, comment, and subscribe if this is of value to you.  How are you going to level up this year?

A Worshipper’s Heart

by Gladys Osofisan March 15, 2021
written by Gladys Osofisan

Worship should be an intimate experience between us and God, yet we don’t always experience that intimacy. You see worship is so much more than a song; it is much more than whether it moves you or not and it is certainly deeper than feelings.

There are times I don’t want to worship, and I am a worship leader! Can you believe that? It is normal for believers to not feel like worshiping at times. I had an opportunity to speak to someone the other day who was having difficulty connecting during worship so yes, it does happen, but we must understand we don’t have to stay that way. It is dangerous.

We worship God based on who He is, not how we feel. I think our being unable to connect with God is because we lose confidence in Him and we lose confidence because we forget what He’s done for us. This is a deep rabbit hole into the very things that take us away from His presence.

How do you worship God in confidence?

Only one answer comes to mind and it is one I’ve come to understand more and more; it is ‘know God for yourself.’ I want to ask you ‘what experiences have you had so far in the entirety of your life that has made Him more real to you? I have too many to count and that is the basis I worship from whether I am by myself or when I lead worship.

The other day I had to write a mission statement for a new Facebook group(shameless plug) I am starting and something my pastor said to me a couple of years ago came back in my memory. The summary of it is that when I lead worship, I introduce people to the God behind these songs.

And for me to do that I have to have experienced God in such a way that I am bold to declare His goodness because I have tasted of it. I can boldly sing of His protection, love, provision, rest, peace, and sustenance only because I have experienced them. Now, that is my confidence!

Feeling Disconnected?

There are a variety of reasons for ‘spiritual disconnection’. At times, we simply cannot connect with God simply because we allow ‘our feelings’ to determine what we do. You don’t feel like lifting your hands in worship when that is the very thing that will lift that depression.

It’s important to remember that our emotions have no impact on our existence or our relationship with God. Feelings are fickle and can be changed by seemingly insignificant incidents.

From my own personal experience, you can get the feeling that God is far away at times. You have the impression that you aren’t hearing Him or that you aren’t from hearing Him. Here’s what I’ve discovered: God has never changed, so the distance you perceive is not from Him. And He’s still talking, so you’re the one who can’t hear what He’s saying.

The various reasons for feeling a distance or a loss of hearing don’t happen all at once; they can be gradual to the point that you don’t know you’ve drifted away from God until you start to feel ‘disconnected.’

Faith and trust in God, as well as other practical steps, lead to confident worship. Note, we worship God because of who he is, not because of how we feel.

Steps to Connecting with God in a Practical Way

You have access to a number of services. I’ll go over five of my favorites.

Prayer
Prayer is nothing more than a dialogue with God. If you ever feel like there’s a chasm between you and God, I suggest starting there. You don’t even have to start with an hour of prayer; 10 minutes every four hours will suffice. That’s what I did last year when I felt a sense of separation. I used to set prayer alarms and pray for 10 minutes four times a day. It was incredibly helpful.

Prayer journals

This has been a huge help to me, particularly now that I’m in the habit of writing down my prayers or thoughts as soon as I wake up in the morning. I write down what I believe the Lord is teaching me, directions for particular items in which I have faith.

Bible study
Every day, you can read the Bible! Joshua instructs us to meditate on the word at all times of the day and night. Devotionals have proven to be extremely beneficial to me. I use the Youversion App, which has many devotionals for whatever stage of life you are in. I really like that you can read the devotionals alone or in a community, which is a great way to stay accountable.

I’ve also recently been involved in parallel Bibles. The Essential Evangelical Parallel Bible (affiliate link warning!) is what I use. I like that it allows me to read not only traditional writing but also contemporary interpretations. It’s great to be able to compare a passage written in four separate translations on the same page!!

Audio bible
The Youversion App also has Bible versions with Audio options, so you can listen to the Bible being read to you. I’ve done this a few times, and there’s something soothing about hearing the Bible read to you.

Worship playlists
I’d have to say this is my favorite as a worship leader. You can do this using YouTube, Spotify, Pandora, and other similar services. All you have to do is build playlists of songs that you love and link to the season you’re in. This greatly aided my prayer life because there were moments when all I wanted to do was listen to it in the car on the 35-minute drive home. This isn’t all about songs, you can do prayers too.

Worship With Confidence

Doing these on a regular basis has been extremely beneficial to my spiritual growth, and I believe it would be beneficial to you as well. Only by reflecting on God’s characteristics can we worship or communicate with Him with faith. Examine God’s existence and note who He claims to be and what He has done for you. Has He ever let you down? True trust does not come from feelings; instead, you must see yourself as God sees you!

Finally, the place of worship, in my experience, is a place of trade. A place where we can trade our sorrow for His joy and our weakness for His courage. I am persuaded that you cannot stand before God and be put to shame and that this comes from understanding God for yourself. That’s what you get when you have a God-connection!

God, You & 2021

by Gladys Osofisan January 15, 2021
written by Gladys Osofisan

Hello 2021!  We are 15 days in, can you believe that?

I must say in spite of us, and all of the confusion, chaos, anxieties, insecurities among everything else that 2020 threw at us; we are still standing and only by the grace of God!

The biggest thing out of the last year for me has to be the realization that while I thought I knew God walking into 2020, my own frailty flashed before my very eyes. I saw myself disintegrating so to speak and the only thing that got me out of that phase was going back to the bible and out of that came a deep yearning for God.

I say I went back to the very word of God because there is an answer for every question in there but you have to dig in and you have to read to understand.  Do not read the bible like it is a novel!

In this video – God, You, and 2021; I have a conversation with my friend and fellow Christian YouTuber – Efa Egbe (Efakitu TV) and we describe our journey to rediscovering the power of God’s presence in our lives.

Thanks for Watching!

The Fullness of Worship

by Gladys Osofisan November 30, 2020
written by Gladys Osofisan

Worship started to evolve for me about 5 years ago.  Essentially, I began to get hungry for something more after I would lead worship at church.  It began with questions like ‘is this it?’  And those questions arose because I would feel incomplete or even like someone who ate but wasn’t completely full and yet had to get up from the table.  Make sense?

So, in my quest to quench that hunger; I literally began to seek out people who were already doing this.  People who were leading worship with the same passion I felt like I was developing.  I mean my sense at that time was ‘they must have this same hunger that I had’.

So, I began to follow Steffanny Greitzinger, Tasha Cobbs, Travis Green, Benita Washington to name a few.  Of course, it was like a dam burst open and I can tell you that this fire I feel when I lead worship now came out of that hunger.

I have a new series on my YouTube channel titled ‘What is Worship? that I would love for you to check out; don’t forget to subscribe!

God, Me and 2020…

by Gladys Osofisan November 2, 2020
written by Gladys Osofisan

I remember the lockdown went into effect in NJ on March 23, one day after my worship live-stream.  I have had my own share of anger which then turned to fear and almost depression to the point where I was just over it!  Just over Covid, like done!

The one thing that has kept me going is that scripture in Deuteronomy 31:7-8; actually the later part of it and in the Message version of the bible –

“Then Moses summoned Joshua. He said to him with all Israel watching, “Be strong. Take courage. You will enter the land with this people, this land that God promised their ancestors that he’d give them. You will make them the proud possessors of it. God is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t worry.”

As a matter of fact, I have a video on my YouTube channel titled ‘God Will Never Misdirect You’.  That came out of that small phase. Here’s the link – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=my6IR4hv8No&t=1288s

You see, I had stepped into 2020 with so many ideas, aspirations, visions, and here we were basically at a standstill!  The whole thing was just so deflating that I questioned if I really did hear God on those things I thought I heard Him say to me. Did I imagine them?

Those dreams got fuzzy.  The picture that I had seen for 2020 got corrupted and it took me going back to the one who gave me those dreams and visions in the first place to get clarity.  I just want to encourage you, we may get to points of frustration, points where we get overwhelmed either because we’re not seeing results quick enough so we want to abandon or even question if it was truly from God.

You may find yourself right now, where I was, both confused and frustrated. But before you abandon that dream; I encourage you to look at these three powerful words.

2020 redefined these words for me at the most desperate junction of my life.  These words – ‘Reset, Pivot and Pause’.  We will all come to a place in our lives where we have or need to make decisions on which of them to act on.  I call it the three-pronged road to some of the most important decisions of our lives.  Let’s look at each:

When you hear the word pause, what do you think of?  I am going to use an illustration here. Say, you’re playing a movie, and someone comes in the middle of it to ask you a question.  That’s an interruption and in order to not miss something in the movie you hit pause but after the person leaves, you continue.  So, a pause has continuity.  It is like a comma, it is not a full stop.

A reset, on the other hand, is a restart.  You get to start again, with guidance, better instruction, clarity, etc.  Maybe you need to revisit your why, what, how, and when.

One of the many synonyms for pivot is turn.  People find it difficult to turn and explore something else when another is not working even though the signs are clear that it won’t work.  I don’t know if it is out of shame but there is no shame here.  I heard someone say sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.  Take it as a learning experience and go on.

For this year, I had to hit pause on some things, a reset on others, and definitely pivots where they were needed and I was able to do that because I went back to God to ask for instructions in everything whether it was ministry, career, business or family.

One of my ‘pauses’ this year was a T-Shirt and Hoodie brand business which I had wanted to start for a while now but just never felt the release to do it and so until I got that release, I had to hit a pause on that.  There is something especially beautiful about stepping into something new whatever that might be, in God’s timing.  As a matter, we launched today that business today November 1st so when you get a chance; please check us out here.  http://bit.ly/worshipwithgladys-merch-2

It was easy for me to do and once I wrapped my head around the fact that if He gave me the vision, dream, or desire then ultimately I had to understand that He was also the one with the instructions so that whenever things got confusing or the vision got fuzzy, He would have the answer.  This scripture comes to mind – Psalm 32:8-9 in the ESV

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Through prayer, I discovered the season I was in.  This is a season of total trust for me. That’s because I have too many things riding on God and they have to succeed. I trusted God stepping on these dreams and I absolutely have to trust that He is my first call when things get fuzzy.

Make the decision to walk with Him today and He will show you exactly what you need to do when you need to do it. That’s my life decision now because you see, me and God, we are on a ROLL!!!

How to Follow your Dreams with Pastor Jide Lawore

by Gladys Osofisan August 26, 2020
written by Gladys Osofisan

In this video, we talk about the life of Joseph. Ironically, we are all Joseph.

The truth is God has put dreams/aspirations on the inside of every one of us.  We in turn have a responsibility to walk/work in alignment with Him to follow instructions that come with them but what ends up happening is we get sidetracked by life and go in totally different directions.  One of the strongest things Pastor Jide pointed out is that a lot of us don’t get to follow or even fulfill our dreams because we do not match it with knowledge and understanding.

That is a big one because if you do not understand the dream and get appropriate understanding then you cannot take the necessary action in order to get to your expected end.  I’ll stop here and let you take a listen but if there was anything that resonated with you in this video, please leave a comment. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Talking Worship with Freke Umoh

by Gladys Osofisan August 19, 2020
written by Gladys Osofisan

As a worship leader, this was one of the most enlightening conversations about worship I have ever had in my entire life! I met Freke through another worship leader friend and I have to say this was a God connection, period.  This is a conversation that’s needed by the Christian body today because we must understand what it means to worship God in spirit and in truth; and you cannot do that without knowing Him.  Knowing is based on your knowledge of the word of God and that is what will strengthen you through different seasons of your life. Take a listen. Please like, comment, share, and subscribe! Thank you!!!

God Thoughts vs Every Other Thought

by Gladys Osofisan August 17, 2020
written by Gladys Osofisan

This devotional was actually sparked by my friend Amin’s Whatsapp status. I kind of zeroed in on the part that said ‘what you fear you empower’. Full disclosure, I recorded this episode about a week ago and thought I’d share it today. 🙂

Have you ever wondered why thoughts are a big part of our lives?  It dawned on me that even though those thoughts come, nothing really happens unless we act on them. One way I personally deal with fear thoughts for example is to throw ‘God’ thoughts at them…

Take a listen.  Please like, comment, share, and subscribe!  Thank you!!!
